& MACHUPICCHU 8 DAYS |
8 days / 7 nights

Day 1: Cuzco
– Cachora – Chikiska
We pick you up at
your hotel in Cuzco around 5:30 am and take you to San
Pedro de Cachora where you will meet all the people
that will accompany us on the trek (chef, guide, and
porters). Then we start the trek and when we reach Capuliyoq
we have lunch. In the afternoon we arrive to Chikiska
where we set up the camp and have dinner.
Day 2: Chikiska
– Choquequirao
After a good breakfast
we start the trek towards the archeological center of
Choquequirao. It is mostly uphill. We have lunch close
to the community of Marampata and we arrive to the campsite
at 17:00 where we will sleep on one of the Inca terraces
from where we will take part of a beautiful sunset.
Day 3: Choquequirao
– Maizal
In the morning we
visit the whole archeological complex and we will enjoy
a guided visit for around 2 hours. We continue our trek,
today will be the toughest day because we ascend passing
the Rio Blanco where we will have lunch. Then we continue
for three hours until we reach the campsite in Maizal.
Day 4: Maizal
– Yanama
Today we will start
with a three hour ascend until we reach Yanama where
the descend starts. We continue to the mines of Victoria,
as an extra activity you can extract silver blocks from
the abandoned mine. We have lunch here and then we descend
to our campsite in Yanama where we have dinner.
Day 5: Yanama
– Collpa
We start the trek
and have lunch in Totora. We then continue for three
more hours until we reach our campsite in Collpa. Here
it will be possible to buy soft drinks, batteries, and
other products.
Day 6: Collpa
– Playa
Today’s trek will
be very short but very nice because we will have the
opportunity to take a refreshing bath in one of the
waterfalls and we will also be able to enjoy exotic
fruits such as the granadilla. We will pass some cacao
and banana plantations and we arrive to our campsite
around midday. We have lunch at the campsite and can
enjoy a free afternoon.
Day 7: Playa
– Aguas Calientes
We start the trek
by ascending a small hill which will lead us to one
of the small archeological complexes in the zone, the
Llaqtapata complex. Here we will see a stone that might
have been used for astronomical purposes. The lunch
will take place in the Hydro electrical area where we
will board the train that takes us to the town Aguas
Calientes. Overnight in a hotel.
Day 8: Machu
Picchu – Cuzco
After an early breakfast
we take the bus up to Machu Picchu to see the sunrise.
You will get a guided tour of the ruins for about two
hours and then you will have some free time to explore
the ruins on your own and take more photos. A popular
alternative is to climb the mountain next to Machu Picchu;
Huayna Picchu (2 hours). It is quite tough but if you
reach the top you will have a spectacular view over
Machu Picchu and the surroundings. In the afternoon
you take the train back to Cuzco. You are picked up
