CHOQUEQUIRAO
TREK |
4 days / 3 nights

Day 1: Cuzco
– Cachora – Rosalina
We leave Cuzco towards Cachora, passing the community of Izcuchaca, until we reach the archeological complex of Tarawasi and Abra de Saywite. We have breakfast in Cachora. After breakfast we start the ascent to the viewpoint of Wayna Qalli Grande, from where we can enjoy parts of the archeological complex of Choquequirao and also a beautiful view over the snow capped Vilcabamba. Then we descend towards Capuliyuc, Cuca Masana, where the flora and
fauna starts to change, until we reach the Rosalina camp site.
Day 2: Rosalina
– Santa Rosa – Marampata – Choquequirao
After breakfast we head towards the liquor distillatory of sugarcane called Santa Rosa. This second day of trekking is considered the toughest because of the ascent towards Marampata. On the way we observe orchids and violets and if we are lucky we can observe fauna such as reindeers, bears, birds and insects. After a lunch and rest in Marampata we continue towards Raqaypata where we can enjoy different orchids, especially at the Chinchillmayo
River. After about one hour of trekking we reach Choquequirao where we will do a full tour of the great complex.
Day 3: Choquequirao
– Santa Rosa – Chiquisca
After breakfast, we enjoy some time to visit Choquequirao for the last time. We then descend on the same route towards Santa Rosa where we have lunch. Then we continue towards Chiquisca where we camp and have dinner.
Day 4: Chiquisca
– Capuliyuc – Wayma Qalli – Cachora – Cuzco
After breakfast in Chiquisca we start the ascent to the Wayna Qalli viewpoint where we have lunch. We then continue to Cachora where we will be picked up and transferred to Cuzco.
