Lima – Cuzco – Sacred Valley – Machu Picchu - Jungle - Mancora

Day 1. Lima

Reception at the airport, transfer in a private vehicle to the deluxe 5 star Miraflores Park Hotel. You will get a VIP check-in to your room, an Executive Suite with Ocean view. Fresh flowers and dry fruits will be waiting for you. You will get a nice massage and an “a la carte” dinner at a first class Lima restaurant.

   

Day 2. Lima

After breakfast, a guided tour of colonial and modern Lima which includes the cathedral built in 1654 where the remains of Francisco Pizarro rest, the Main Square with a bronze fountain from 1650 and some unique tree balconies, the San Fransisco monastery with the famous catacombs and the modern areas of Miraflores and San Isidro.
Lunch at the internationally renowned Rosa Nautica, famous for its exquisite seafood. After lunch you will visit the Gold Museum, a unique private collection of amazing gold artifacts from the Inca Empire and other ancient Peruvian cultures. Return to your hotel.

In the evening you will have a delicious dinner at the Huaca Pucllana Restaurant, located within an actual pre-Inca archaeological site and next to a 1500 year old adobe pyramid.

   

Day 3.  Lima - Cuzco (B)

Transfer to the airport for the flight to Cuzco. Transfer to the 5 star Hotel Libertador. Free morning to relax and get used to the altitude. In the afternoon a guided tour of Cuzco and the four famous Inca ruins that are located in the outskirts of Cuzco; the water temple Tambo Machay, the fortress Puca Pucara, the Oracle place Qenqo and the impressive fortress and temple of Sacsayhuamán. Three enormous stones, each one weigh 120 tons, form three perfect zig-zag walls and the view over Cuzco is wonderful. Then you do a walking tour of central Cuzco with visits to the Cathedral, Main Square and the Sun Temple of Korikancha.

 

      

Day 4. Sacred Valley (B, L)

Today you will do a full day excursion to Urubamba, the Sacred Valley of the Incas. You visit the village of Pisac that was founded during colonial times and is located at the foot of some impressive Inca ruins. Visit the Pisac market on the Main Square where the Indians sell their products and handicrafts. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays are the busiest days, but the market is always open. After lunch, visit Ollantaytambo, the only Inca village that the Spaniards never conquered, and explore the ruins located above the village. Overnight in the great Sol y Luna Lodge & Spa Hotel.   

       

Day 5. Sacred Valley

Today you will have plenty of activities to choose between that the hotel offers; in the Spa you can try yoga, massages, manicure, pedicure, facial and body treatments, Jacuzzi, etc. If you feel more active you can try some of the other activities; Horseback riding, Mountain Biking, Trekking, Paragliding, etc. Overnight in the Sol y Luna Lodge & Spa.

   

Day 6. Sacred Valley   

You will have another day to spend with your own choices of activities as the day before or just take walks and relax. Overnight in the Sol y Luna Lodge & Spa. 

      

Day 7. Ollantaytambo –Machu Picchu – Cuzco (B)

It is time for the highlight of the tour, the forgotten city of the Incas and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World – Machu Picchu. Transfer to Ollantaytambo for the early train to Aguas Calientes where you are met by your guide. You then take the bus up to Machu Picchu for your guided tour (2 hours). After the tour you will have some free time to explore the ruins and take more photos. A popular alternative is to climb the mountain next to Machu Picchu; Huayna Picchu (2 hours). It is quite tough but if you reach the top you will have a spectacular view over Machu Picchu and the surroundings. Overnight in Aguas Calientes at the spectacular hotel Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo.

   

Day 8. Aguas Calientes – Cuzco (B)

Today you have the opportunity to return to Machu Picchu to enjoy the beautiful sunrise over the ruins. There will be plenty of time for you to discover the site. Many people choose to trek up Huayna Picchu from where you will have a breathtaking view of Machu Picchu and the surrounding mountains.

Return to your hotel for lunch before going back down to Aguas Calientes by bus. Take some time to visit this colorful town before boarding the Hiram Bingham train for the return trip to Cuzco. Onboard the train you will enjoy cocktails followed by a four course dinner and a show. Reception and transfer to the Libertador Hotel.

   

Day 9. Cuzco – Puerto Maldonado – Inkaterra Reservas Amazonica  (B, L, D)

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight to Puerto Maldonado. Reception at the airport. Drive to the river port, whilst hearing an introductory talk about the city and surrounding areas, in addition to the characteristics of the Amazon region. We will then embark on a 45-minute boat ride on the Madre de Dios River until we arrive at the Reservas Amazonicas. Here you will be assigned to your cabin, a Superior double room. The hotel has a great Spa where you can enjoy different treatments.

A personal escort will accompany you from the airport to the lodge. After a buffet lunch, afternoon excursions including a guided walk along one of the trails close to the lodge. The trails wind past important giant trees of the forest as the kapok and the strangler fig, and you may see superb examples of bird and insect life. We will also take a boat ride along the Madre de Dios River to see the change in the environment as twilight gives way to darkness. Animals and birds are replaced by special species adapted to the darkness, such as nightjars, owls, capybara, and caiman. You may choose to take the Twilight Rainforest excursion as an alternative. Cocktails and buffet dinner in the dining room of the lodge’s main pavilion. Relax on the porch of your suite before retiring for the night.

   

Day 10. Inkaterra Reservas Amazonica  (B, L, D)

Wake up early to observe the sun rise over the Madre de Dios River before a buffet breakfast with eggs, cereals, local fruits, and fresh bread. We will then gather in the Eco–Centre for your morning excursions. A five-minute boat ride takes you to the Canopy Inkaterra Interpretation Centre where you can ascend the first tower, 45 meters (150 feet) above the forest floor. Spend an hour and a half walking on the bridges that stretch between seven platforms, as you see giant strangler fig trees, orchids, toucans, woodpeckers, trogons and with luck monkeys or a three-toed sloth. We will then embark on a 40-minute boat ride that takes you to the Tambopata National Reserve. Spend an hour-and-a-half walking the 3 km. (1.8 mile) trail through the wildlife-rich reserve, and you will arrive at the breathtaking oxbow lake called Lake Sandoval. Here you will have an excellent opportunity to see the endangered giant river otter. Also residing in and around the lake are the rare red howler monkeys, red-bellied macaws, anaconda, point-tailed palm creepers and side-neck turtles. Return to the main lodge for cocktails and buffet dinner. Spend the night in your suite. 

   

Day 11. Inkaterra Reservas Amazonica – Puerto Maldonado – Lima - Mancora (B)

After breakfast, check out of the lodge and return by boat to Puerto Maldonado, an hour and a half upriver. Visit the city’s Butterfly Farm, unique in Peru where you can experience several dozen of the more than 3,800 varieties of butterflies and moths found in Peru. Assistance with your luggage, prior to boarding your flight to Lima and connecting with the flight to Tumbes in the north of Peru. Transfer to the great hotel Las Arenas de Mancora, complete with private beach and all amenities.

   

Day 12. Mancora (B)

Free day to relax on the beach or by the pool.

      

Day 13: Mancora (B)

Free day to relax on the beach or by the pool.

Day 14: Mancora – Tumbes – Lima (B)

Free day to relax on the beach or by the pool. In the afternoon transfer to Tumbes for the flight to Lima. Transfer to your hotel, the Miraflores Park.

Day 15: Lima (B)

Transfer to the airport for your international flight.
