Description: Founded back in 1991, the Libertador Tambopata Lodge is one of the most established eco-tourism lodges on the banks of the Tambopata River. There are now a total of nine rainforest lodges in the Puerto Maldonado area, reinforcing the status of the region as one of the major rainforest eco-tourism destinations in South America. With a capacity of 59 guests it is also one of the smallest lodges, which is how we intend to keep it. Smaller groups, we believe, contribute to a more fulfilling visit and reduce the impact on the many species of fauna that abound in the surrounding forest.

Description: Posada Amazonas opened its doors in 1998 and has become a major attraction for those looking for a short stay in the rainforest with the promise of an authentic eco-tourist experience. It is a rustic 30 bedroom first-class community partnership eco-tourist project that is jointly owned by the Ese-Eja community of Infierno and is situated inside the community's private reserve. Using local materials and architecture combined with modern expertise, the lodge is community built and as such is a testament to workmanship and endeavour.

    

 

Refugio Amazonas

Description: Refugio Amazonas is the latest addition to Rainforest Expeditions Tambopata portfolio. As a charming 24 bedroom lodge, it is well placed immediately adjacent to the Tambopata National Reserve. Surrounded by a mosaic of waterways and habitats and a worked Brazil Nut concession it presents an ideal balance for naturalist exploration and observations of sustainable forest use by local populations. In collaboration with ANIA an environmental education NGO, Refugio Amazonas caters for families with children of all ages.

    

 

Tambopata Research Center

Description: The Tambopata Research Center is a simple but comfortable 18 bedroom lodge situated by the worlds largest Macaw Claylick on the uninhabited frontier of the Tambopata National Reserve and the Bahuaja-Sonene National Park. Indeed as the founding venture of Rainforest Expeditions, it was established to aid the protection of these magnificent birds and has a long-term research project to ensure the survival of their populations. It is unrivalled in its access to pristine Amazonian forests, having no neighbours, and due to its distance from human populations requires a stopover in Refugio Amazonas.

Description: The Corto Maltes Amazonia Lodge has 27 comfortable bungalows built in wood and beautifully finished. For your convenience, we offer two rooms with king-size beds, and 25 double or triple. Each bungalow has a private bathroom with hot water 24 hours and a large terrace with hammocks where you can enjoy the excellent view of Madre de Dios river and the jungle that surrounds us. The privacy is guaranteed, every bungalow is sufficiently separated from the others. If you carry valuables, each bungalow has its own safe for its tranquility.

Description: The Wasai Tambopata Lodge is located in the heart of Amazon, approximately 50 km away from Puerto Maldonado in a straight line, and approximately 120 km on the river route, in the heart of the Tambopata Candamo National Reserve. On the banks of the Tambopata River it is surrounded by primary rainforest and is a place of natural beauty. There are 20 km of forest trails around the lodge and it is also possible to visit the local community of Baltimore, the El Gato Waterfalls, and collpas of parrots and mammals. Fishing is also possible.

Description: The wild Heath River marks the remote Amazon-region border between Peru and Bolivia. Bordering two radically different ecosystems of rainforest and lowland savannah, it runs through the heart of the Tambopata-Madidi reserve areas of Peru and Bolivia, a vast and largely inaccessible wilderness totaling more than 13,700 sq. km., 5,290 sq. miles.

Description: The design of our lodge follows the traditional native style, keeping the visitor in permanent contact with Nature. It is ideal for resting and observing Nature. Our rooms are large and comfortable, always staying fresh and ventilated. We have a capacity for 30 people, with comfortable rest areas and a generous dining room. Our cuisine combines an international style with the local one (varieties of fruits and other native products). Vegetarian meals and a bar (beer, wine, pisco sour, sodas, etc.) are available.

Description: Explorer's Inn was the first ecotourism lodge to be built in the region and is the only lodge situated fully within the boundary of the Tambopata National Reserve in the province of Madre-de-Dios. The lodge itself is located in a picturesque setting at the confluence of the La Torre and Tambopata rivers, 60 km upriver from Puerto Maldonado.
