Islands 17 days / 16 nights

Day 1: Lima
You are welcomed
by our staff at the airport and transferred to your
hotel. During the ride we will tell you about Lima and
Peru and go through your itinerary day by day. We will
also answer any question you may have.

Day 2: Lima (B)
After breakfast,
a guided tour of colonial and modern Lima which includes
the cathedral built in 1654 where the remains of Francisco
Pizarro rest, the Main Square with a bronze fountain
from 1650 and some unique tree balconies, the San Francisco
monastery with the famous catacombs and the modern areas
of Miraflores and San Isidro. We end the day with a
visit to the famous Gold Museum, a unique private collection
of amazing gold artifacts from the Inca Empire and other
ancient Peruvian cultures such as Chavin, Mochica, Nazca,
Paracas, etc.

Day 3: Lima -
Cuzco (B)
Transfer to the
airport for the flight to Cuzco. Free morning to relax
and get used to the altitude. In the afternoon a guided
tour of Cuzco and the four famous Inca ruins that are
located in the outskirts of Cuzco, the water temple
Tambo Machay, the fortress Puca Pucara, the Oracle place
Qenqo, and the impressive fortress and temple of Sacsayhuamán.
Three enormous stones, each one weigh 120 tons, form
three perfect zig-zag walls and the view over Cuzco
is wonderful. Then you do a walking tour of central
Cuzco with visits to the Cathedral, Main Square and
the Sun Temple of Korikancha.

Day 4: Sacred
Valley (B, L)
Today you will do
a full day excursion to Urubamba, the Sacred Valley
of the Incas. You visit the village of Pisac that was
founded during colonial times and is located at the
foot of some impressive Inca ruins. Visit the Pisac
market on the Main Square where the Indians sell their
products and handicrafts. Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays
are the busiest days, but the market is always open.
After lunch, visit Ollantaytambo, the only Inca village
that the Spaniards never conquered, and explore the
ruins located above the village. You will spend the
night in Ollantaytambo since you are already half way
to one of the great wonders of the world, Machu Picchu.

Day 5: Ollantaytambo – Machu Picchu (B)
It is time for the
highlight of the tour, the forgotten city of the Incas
and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World – Machu
Picchu. You will catch an early train to Aguas Calientes
where you are met by your guide. You then take the bus
up to Machu Picchu for your guided tour (2 hours). After
the tour you will have some free time to explore the
ruins and take more photos. A popular alternative is
to climb the mountain next to Machu Picchu; Huayna Picchu
(2 hours). It is quite tough but if you reach the top
you will have a spectacular view over Machu Picchu and
the surroundings. Overnight in Aguas Calientes.

Day 6: Aguas
Calientes – Cuzco (B)
Today you will have
the opportunity to go back to Machu Picchu to enjoy
the sunrise over Machu Picchu and spend time there without
too many other tourists (entrance fee and bus tickets
not included). In the afternoon you take the train back
to Cuzco. You are picked up and transferred to your
hotel.
Day 7: Cuzco
– Lima - Quito (B)
Transfer to the
airport for the flight to Lima and your connecting flight
to Quito. Arrival in Quito. Transfer to your hotel.
Day 8: City tour
and Middle of the World (B, L)
The tour begins
with a great view of Orellana's way and Guapulo Sanctuary
(XVII Century) and the stone carved façade of
Ecuador's House of Congress. Afterwards, you take a
walk in the old city visiting the Independence Square,
which is surrounded by historically important buildings.
We visit the Cathedral (XVI Century), Presidential Palace,
El Sagrario Church (XVII Century) and one of the most
beautiful baroque churches in South America, La Compañía
de Jesus (XVII Century). The Church of San Francisco
and Monastery were built a few months after the Spaniards
arrival (XVI Century). Drive up to Panecillo Hill where
the Virgin of Quito, (the only winged virgin) is located,
from this perspective you will be delighted by the spectacular
view of Colonial Quito. After this amazing tour,
we will drive 15 Km. north of Quito, towards the Middle
of the World. Here you will have two options, either
to visit the Ethnographic Museum, located inside the
Equator Monument, which shows a display of the main
cultures of Ecuador, or visit the Inti Ñan Museum,
a scientific and cultural Museum, located in the exact
place where the Equator Line crosses and where you will
be shown with different scientific experiments that
you are truly standing on the 0° Meridian. Overnight
in Quito.

Day 9: Cotopaxi
Nacional Park. Overnight in Riobamba (B, L)
We drive along “The
Volcanoes Avenue” towards the world’s highest active
volcano, Cotopaxi (5,897 meters), and continue on a
third order road through a Pine forest to Limpiopungo
Lake located 3,800 meters above sea level along the
slopes of the magnificent Cotopaxi Volcano. Lunch
in a nice Colonial Hacienda. In the afternoon
we go to Riobamba to visit this city. Overnight.

Day 10: Chimborazo
Reserve. Overnight in Cuenca (B, L)
After breakfast
we leave for the Chimborazo Reserve and you will enjoy
a nice trip passing through rural areas. Chimborazo
Reserve boasts Lamas and Vicuñas. After that
further up to 4,800 meters above sea level and walk
up to the Refuge at 5,000 meters or just take your time
to enjoy the impressive landscape at this altitude.
(If available it is also possible to enjoy a train ride
to “The Devil’s Nose”-Wednesay / Friday/ Sunday). Later
on we go to Ingapirca Ruins, an Inca Complex built over
the ruins of a Cañari settlement, an important
native culture of southern Ecuador where we will find
ruins of this culture. In the afternoon we continue
to Cuenca. Overnight.

Day 11: Cuenca
(B, L)
After breakfast
we will enjoy a tour to this magnificent city declared
by UNESCO as a World Heritage of Mankind. We
visit the downtown where, during a short walk, we will
visit the Old and the New Cathedrals, the Flower market,
where you can appreciate the different kind of flowers
that grow in this region and the Rotary market where
you can find many different handicrafts. Afterwards,
we visit a factory making the famous Panama hat. We
will finish this city tour by enjoying the beautiful
landscape at Tomebamba River, the river that divides
the modern city and the Old city. Lunch in a nice
restaurant.

Day 12: Cuenca
– Guayaquil (B)
After breakfast
we go to Guayaquil through the spectacular Cajas roads.
After four hours of driving you will be delighted
with the change of altitude and landscape. The road
reaches 4,000 meters of altitude and is surrounded by
a beautiful Paramo landscape, full of lakes. This adventure
ends at sea level, where the agriculture of the coast
plays an important role in the landscape. Arrival
in Guayaquil and overnight.

Day 13: Guayaquil
– Galapagos. (B, L, D)
After breakfast
transfer to the airport in order to take your flight
to Galapagos. At your arrival in Galapagos there is
a transfer to Puerto Ayora. In the afternoon we
will visit Charles Darwin Station. Dinner and hotel
accommodation in Santa Cruz.

Day 14:
Daily tour. Hotel (B, L, D)
During this trip
you will visit one of the following islands:
• North
Seymour Island.
This small island,
located north of Baltra, has a total area of 1.9 Km2,
and a maximum altitude of 30 meters. The main fauna
species found in the island are the land iguanas, frigate
birds, blue footed-boobies and on the coastline there
are plenty of sea lions. The main point of the visit
is the south-east trail of the island.

• Bartolome
Island.
This small barren
island, located opposite to Santiago Island, has a total
area of 1.2 Km2, and a maximum altitude of 114 meters.
The main attractions of Bartolome Island are the famous
Pinnacle Rock, the coral beaches and the presence of
penguins and multi-coulored fish.

• South
Plazas Island.
The main fauna species
on this island are the marine iguanas, swallow - tailed
gulls and the sea lions. The principal point of the
visit is the east side of the Island.

Day 15: Santa
Cruz – Isabela. (B, L, D)
In the morning we
visit Tortuga Bay. Lunch and in the afternoon
we will have a speed boat transportation towards Isabela.
Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Afterwards you will
make an easy walk towards the Muro de las Lagrimas.
This historical place was built by prisoners from Ecuador’s
first jail. As we walk to our destination, we will see
the Flamingo Lake and a lookout from which we will be
able to see the southern part of the island and the
sea where it meets the immense blue sky. Overnight in
our Puerto Villamil hotel.

Day 16: Sierra
Negra and Chico Volcanoes. (B, L, D)
Eearly in the morning
you will visit one of the most beautiful volcanoes in
the world. The crater of this volcano, called “Sierra
Negra,” is approximately 7 kilometers in diameter. We
will enjoy the wonderful scenery as we go slowly on
horseback. We continue the trek towards Volcan Chico,
where we will walk through the fumaroles of this active
volcano and look down to the sea.

Day 17: Isabela
– Guayaquil.
Early in the morning,
transfer to the airport. Flight to Baltra for taking
your flight back to Guayaquil.
