Lima - Cuzco – Sacred Valley - Machu Picchu – Huaraz
– Trujillo – Chiclayo – Cajamarca 17 days / 16 nights
Day 1: Lima
You are welcomed by our staff at the airport and
transferred to your hotel. During the ride we will tell
you about Lima and Peru and go through your itinerary
day by day. We will also answer any question you may
have.

Day 2: Lima (B)
After breakfast, a guided tour of colonial and modern
Lima which includes the cathedral built in 1654 where
the remains of Francisco Pizarro rest, the Main Square
with a bronze fountain from 1650 and some unique tree
balconies, the San Francisco monastery with the famous
catacombs, and the modern areas of Miraflores and San
Isidro. We end the day with a visit to the famous Gold
Museum, a unique private collection of amazing gold
artifacts from the Inca Empire and other ancient Peruvian
cultures such as Chavin, Mochica, Nazca, Paracas, etc.

Day 3: Lima - Cuzco (B)
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Cuzco.
Free morning to relax and get used to the altitude.
In the afternoon a guided tour of Cuzco and the four
famous Inca ruins that are located in the outskirts
of Cuzco; the water temple Tambo Machay, the fortress
Puca Pucara, the Oracle place Qenqo, and the impressive
fortress and temple of Sacsayhuamán. Three enormous
stones, each one weigh 120 tons, form three perfect
zig-zag walls and the view over Cuzco is wonderful.
Then you do a walking tour of central Cuzco with visits
to the Cathedral, Main Square, and the Sun Temple of
Korikancha.

Day 4: Sacred Valley (B,
L)
Today you will do a full day excursion to Urubamba,
the Sacred Valley of the Incas. You visit the village
of Pisac that was founded during colonial times and
is located at the foot of some impressive Inca ruins.
Visit the Pisac market on the Main Square where the
Indians sell their products and handicrafts. Tuesdays,
Thursdays, and Sundays are the busiest days, but the
market is always open. After lunch, visit Ollantaytambo,
the only Inca village that the Spaniards never conquered,
and explore the ruins located above the village. You
will spend the night in Ollantaytambo since you are
already half way to one of the great wonders of the
world, Machu Picchu.

Day 5: Ollantaytambo –Machu Picchu – Cuzco (B)
It is time for the highlight of the tour, the forgotten
city of the Incas and one of the New Seven Wonders of
the World – Machu Picchu. You will catch an early train
to Aguas Calientes where you are met by your guide.
You then take the bus up to Machu Picchu for your guided
tour (2 hours). After the tour you will have some free
time to explore the ruins and take more photos. A popular
alternative is to climb the mountain next to Machu Picchu;
Huayna Picchu (2 hours). It is quite tough but if you
reach the top you will have a spectacular view over
Machu Picchu and the surroundings. Overnight in Aguas
Calientes.

Day 6: Aguas Calientes – Cuzco (B)
Today you will have the opportunity to go back to
Machu Picchu to enjoy the sunrise over Machu Picchu
and spend time there without too many other tourists
(entrance fee and bus tickets not included). In the
afternoon you take the train back to Cuzco. You are
picked up and transferred to your hotel.
Day 7: Cuzco – Lima - Huaraz (B)
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Lima. Transfer
to the bus station for the bus to Huaraz. Reception
and transfer to your hotel.
Day 8: Huaraz (B)
Free day to relax and get used to the altitude.

Day 9: Lake Llanganuco – Yungay
(B)
Trip to Lake Llanganuco in the north of the Callejon
de Huaylas with stopovers in Carhuaz and the tragic
aftermath of old Yungay. Llanganuco is a beautiful lake
in the Cordillera Blanca region of the Huascaran National
Park. There are splendid views of the Cordillera, the
highest tropical mountain range in the world. Lunch
at a typical restaurant and then return to Huaraz.

Day 10: Chavín de Huantar – Trujillo (B)
Trip to Chavin de Huantar, site of the oldest pan-andean
civilisation dating back to 2000BC. Located on the outskirts
of the village of the same name, a tour of the ruins
is followed by lunch. The site has many galleries and
subterranean tunnels and houses many carved stone figures
of anthropomorphic semblances reminiscent of the Maya
culture. It is the oldest known pre-Columbian culture
discovered and is known as Chavin-Kotosh. The most remarkable
piece of carving is "El Lanzon", a granite
carving 4.5 metres in height. Its head is built into
the roof of the gallery and its base into the floor,
making it immovable. An anthropomorphic figure with
feline teeth, it is thought to indicate an important
ceremonial, religious artefact. Return to Huaraz where
the journey takes you over the continental divide at
the high Kawish pass. In the late evening private transfer
to Trujillo (night bus in group service).

Day 11: Trujillo – Sun & Moon Temples (B)
Arrive early in the morning to Trujillo. Reception
and transfer to your hotel. After some hours of rest,
a city tour of Trujillo 6including the colonial, governmental
and religious monuments of this beautiful city. Then
a tour of the Temple of the Sun and Temple of the Moon
before you return to your hotel.

Day 12: Trujillo - Chan Chan – Huanchaco – Chiclayo (B)
After breakfast you will visit the archeological
complex of Chan Chan, an enormous adobe city in the
Moche Valley and one of the most important archeological
sites in Peru. Then you will continue to the relaxed
fishing village of Huanchaco, famous for its fresh seafood,
where you will have lunch. In the afternoon, take a
scenic bus ride to the city of Chiclayo (a private transfer
for tours in private service).

Day 13: Chiclayo - Royal Tombs and Valley of the
Pyramids (B)
Tour of the Royal Tombs Museum, home to the Lord
of Sipán, one of Peru´s most spectacular
discoveries. It was found in 1987 and is considered
to be one of the most important archeological discoveries
from the last 50 years. Then a tour of the archeological
complex of Tucume, known as the “Valley of the Pyramids”.
The Tucume complex includes 26 adobe pyramids that were
built by the Sican civilisation around 1000 A.C. Return
to your hotel.

Day 14: Bruning Museum – Lambayeque – Cajamarca (B)
Lambayeque is a lovely colonial town located only
12 km from Chiclayo where you will visit the world renown
National Archaeological and Anthropological Museum “Heinrich
Brüning”, arguably the most important museum in
northern Peru. The museum has an amazing collection
of gold, silver, and copper objects from the many cultures
that flourished in the region during the last 4000 years.
After the museum tour you will visit local colonial
houses, the San Pedro Cathedral, the longest balcony
in Peru at the Logia House, and the main plaza. Return
to Chiclayo from where you take the bus to Cajamarca.
Transfer to your hotel, the great 4 star Hotel &
Spa Laguna Seca.

Day 15: Cajamarca – Llacanora – Baños del
Inca – Cajamarca (B)
The village of Llacanora jealously guards the tradition
of the Andean peoples, its typical adobe houses, its
small church, the beauty of its valley and waterfalls
and a treasure in cave paintings hidden for thousands
of years in their mountains. The visit includes: the
village of Llacanora, the Callacpuma caves, and the
Baños del Inca (Thermal Baths). Overnight in
Hotel & Spa Laguna Seca.

Day 16: Cajamarca – Cumbemayo - Cajamarca (B)
A tour to an energy center and geological attraction
composed by large rocks that have been carved to the
shape of monks that rise magically at the top of the
mountain 12 miles south east of the city of Cajamarca
10,000 feet above sea level. We find here a water supply
system from the pre/Inca and Inca cultures, carved in
the rocks of the mountain using very advanced knowledge
of hydrology and also an ancient altar, with singular
hieroglyphs carved in the rocks. The tour includes the
geological complex and the surrounding attractions;
Bellavista, Layzon, Forest Park, Sanctuary, Rock forest
(the monks), Ceremonial Altars and Aqueducts. The tour
lasts for 5 hours.

Day 17: Cajamarca City tour – Lima
(B)
In the morning a tour to Cajamarca, a city that lives
with its own culture that includes the cultural heritage
of the Incas and the legacy, architecture and traditions
of the Spanish colonialism. The tour includes the geological
complex, the Main Square, the Rescue Room, the Belen
Church Complex and Museum, and the Santa Apolonia Hill. In the afternoon transfer to the airport for the flight to Lima.
