RESTAURANTS IN LIMA

Lima, declared the "Gastronomic Capital of the Americas" at the Fourth International Summit of Gastronomy in 2006, offers a wide variety of great restaurants. Below we have collected some of our personal favorites.

Description: Restaurant Huaca Pucllana is located in a fabulous setting right next to the ruins of the Huaca Pucllana, an archaeological compound built between 200 and 700 AD. The pyramid is illuminated by night and the view from the terrace is breathtaking.
The chef Marilú Madueño (Cordon Blue Paris), combines local flavours with more contemporary techniques. Some recommendations are the duck risotto, the ceviche de camarones a la piedra (stone prawn ceviche), and the locro de costillas de cordero (lamb-ribs with a pumpkin stew).

La Rosa Nautica

Description: La Rosa Nautica has a wonderful location at the end of a pier off the coast of Lima. Their specialties are fish and seafood prepared according to both international and Peruvian recipes. Enrique Blondet is the well renowned chef.

Description: Astrid y Gaston was founded in 1994 by the married couple Gastón Acurio and Astrid Gutsche. It is located in a charming colonial house in Miraflores and is one of Lima´s best restaurants. Thanks to the success they have now opened up restaurants in Santiago de Chile and Bogotá. Gastón Acurio is the most famous chef in Peru and is frequently seen on Peruvian television. The restaurant focuses on Peruvian cuisine with a modern and innovative touch.

Description: Brujas de Cachiche occupies an old mansion overlooking a park and is named after a small village in the Ica region which is said to have been the home of many witches and sorcerers (Bruja is Spanish for witch). They specialize in the Peruvian cuisine, some good choices are lomo saltado, anticuchos de corazón, and tacu-tacu. The popular bar Huaringas is located in the same building and offers several versions of the delicious Pisco Sour.

Description: Fusión, opened in 2006, is located in San Isidro, Lima´s financial high quarter. It has a minimalist design and offers Peruvian cuisine prepared with international techniques. Good choices are the tuna dishes, tiradito, and the pastel de choclo. It has a great wine list and a nice bar on the second floor.
